Parys, Free State has always been known for quick escape to tourists from all over our country and abroad. With a wide range of curio, art and antique shops, the vast variety of eateries, and the diverse outdoor activities on offer, our charming little town is indeed a country gem to be explored and tourists are always welcomed by the friendly people of Parys.
River Rock Lodge is situated on a branch of the Vaal River, and only five minutes from town center. Our estate is 10HA in size, with three untouched islands before the mainstream to explore. An angler’s dream hideaway! In the mornings you will be greeted by the songs of birds and mesmerized by the echo of the Fish Eagle throughout the day. If you’re lucky, you might see a troop of monkeys swinging and playing as they make their way towards the mountains.
We offer seven river front chalets and cabins, all of which accommodates two guests each. We also have two similar cabins nestled in the bush for an even greater privacy feel.
For those not too fond of the river scenery, we've got you covered too! - With three double sized garden view chalets, these units also accommodates two guests each. These units are situated only a short walking distance from the river.
We can comfortably accommodate 24 guests in total. As we are a romantic getaway destination, we will regrettably not host any group bookings for private parties.
We are well-known for romantic getaways, and love offering our guests assistance in making any celebratory agenda a special occasion. Our quaint cabins are decorated with a country elegance which offers great serenity. All our accommodation is strategically placed for privacy, and each fitted with their own private boma / braai – great for stargazing or just a perfect outdoor experience. Great news also is that we are in the process of going off the grid to minimize national and local electrical outages.
